Gone Fishing RV Resort
Gordonville, Texas
4 RV Sites
On the north shore of Lake Texoma where the Red River forms the Texas-Oklahoma border, Gone Fishing RV Resort delivers an intimate, gated lakeside camping experience organized around one of America's most productive fishing lakes. With only 34 full hookup sites, the resort maintains a scale that never feels crowded, and the quarter-mile walk to the lake's boat launch—complemented by complimentary launch passes provided to every guest—reflects a campground designed by anglers for anglers. If your trip centers on the rod and reel rather than the resort experience, Gone Fishing has precisely the right priorities in exactly the right location.
All 34 RV sites offer full hookup service with 30 and 50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections, and the gated entrance provides security and quiet that guests at open campgrounds don't always enjoy. Hot showers, well-maintained restrooms, free WiFi, and a newly renovated laundry room with updated machines handle the practical necessities of an extended fishing stay. A dog walking area with stations, benches positioned for lake sunset views, propane and ice for purchase, and a fish cleaning station complete the amenity picture—a tight, functional lineup that puts everything a fishing-focused traveler needs on-site without the overhead of resort programming that would add cost without adding value. An on-site convenience store is planned as part of the resort's ongoing improvement program.
Lake Texoma is among the most well-known fishing destinations in the south-central United States, and for good reason. The lake—formed by Denison Dam at the confluence of the Red and Washita Rivers—covers more than 89,000 acres across Texas and Oklahoma and holds populations of striped bass, largemouth bass, white bass, catfish, and crappie that draw serious anglers year-round. The lake's striped bass fishery in particular is nationally recognized, and Texoma's consistent depth and water quality have established it as one of the top striper destinations in the country. From October through spring, the striper runs draw fishing enthusiasts from across Texas and Oklahoma.
Beyond fishing, Lake Texoma provides full-service boating, water skiing, and swimming opportunities across an expansive reservoir with significant shoreline. Eisenhower State Park on the Texas side offers additional outdoor access, and the Denison area to the south—birthplace of President Dwight D. Eisenhower—provides historical interest for guests who want a day off the water. The towns of Gainesville and Sherman are within range for provisioning and dining when the camp store doesn't cover the need.
Gone Fishing RV Resort operates year-round, and the lake's mild climate keeps conditions fishable in every season. Fall and winter are the preferred months for striper fishing, while spring and early summer shift attention to bass. The resort's small size and gated character mean it books up for peak fishing dates well in advance—particularly during tournament season and the fall striper runs. Reserve your site, pick up a fishing license, and let Lake Texoma demonstrate why it's earned its reputation as the premier fishing lake on the Texas-Oklahoma border.
