I-35 RV Park & Campground
Elm Mott, Texas
6 RV Sites
I-35 RV Park and Campground sits just north of Waco along the Interstate 35 corridor in Elm Mott, Texas — a genuinely full-service destination that exceeds interstate-stop expectations by a significant margin. While its highway-adjacent location makes it a practical overnight stop between Dallas and Austin, the park's amenity lineup and access to Waco's increasingly well-regarded attractions make it equally compelling as a multi-night base for exploring a city that has emerged as one of Texas's most visited destinations in recent years.
The park accommodates large rigs with ample space and full hookup service, and the on-site amenity list goes well beyond what highway campgrounds typically deliver. Bubba's Breakfast Cafe handles morning meals without requiring a drive, and the indoor exercise facility, swimming pool, pet wash station, golf driving range, nature trails, and two fishing ponds create an on-site activity environment where guests rarely feel compelled to leave the grounds — even on days with no specific Waco itinerary planned. The park is pet-friendly throughout, reflecting a design philosophy that treats traveling animals as guests rather than afterthoughts.
The park is pet-friendly throughout, and the on-site café eliminates the need to locate breakfast in an unfamiliar city after a late arrival the night before — a detail that experienced road travelers consistently rank among the most appreciated practical amenities any interstate campground can offer. The Central Texas landscape around Elm Mott and Waco occupies the Brazos River valley in a stretch where the Hill Country's character begins to assert itself in the limestone terrain beneath the grasslands. The Brazos River corridor through Waco and Cameron Park provides some of the most accessible nature recreation in central Texas, with trails threading through riparian woodland and over limestone bluffs that frame the river in ways that surprise visitors expecting generic Texas flatland.
Waco's attraction lineup has expanded dramatically in the years since HGTV's Fixer Upper elevated the city's profile nationally. Magnolia Market at the Silos, the retail and culinary complex built by Chip and Joanna Gaines, has become one of the most visited sites in Texas and warrants at least a half-day. The Waco Mammoth National Monument preserves a remarkable fossil site where the world's largest discovery of Pleistocene mammoths was unearthed — the interpretive shelter over the excavation site puts visitors directly above bones still embedded in the earth. The Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum, Cameron Park Zoo along the Brazos River, and Hawaiian Falls waterpark add further depth to a Waco day-trip calendar that can easily sustain three or four days of varied exploration.
I-35 RV Park operates year-round, with the spring and fall seasons offering the most comfortable temperatures for Waco's mix of outdoor monuments and walking-based attractions. Summer stays are comfortable in the park's shaded sites with the pool as a practical midday retreat. Reserve ahead for Baylor University football weekends in the fall, when McLane Stadium fills and accommodation demand across the Waco area intensifies quickly.
