5.03 reviewsAntique Capital RV Park in Gladewater, Texas, earns its name from the East Texas town's identity as the Antique Capital of East Texas, a community whose downtown commercial district is lined with dealers, shops, and galleries stocking American furniture, vintage glassware, primitives, and collectibles that attract antique hunters from across Texas and beyond. The park provides a comfortable and affordable home base for guests who want to spend serious time browsing Gladewater's eclectic inventory without the cost and inconvenience of nightly motel stays in a town that doesn't have an abundance of commercial lodging options.
The park's amenities include a stocked fishing pond for guests who want recreational access without leaving the property, an on-site library for rainy-day reading, a dedicated dog park for traveling pets, and RV storage facilities for guests with multiple vehicles or who need secured equipment storage during their stay. The grounds maintain a quiet, unhurried atmosphere that suits the antique-shopping demographic—guests who prioritize quality browsing time and a peaceful evening over resort-style programming. The park's modest and value-oriented character is appropriate for the type of extended shopping trips that draw visitors to Gladewater's dealer community.
The East Texas Pineywoods landscape surrounding Gladewater is a world apart from the stereotypical open Texas range—dense loblolly and shortleaf pine forests, red clay soils, and the cypress-lined bayous and lakes of the Sabine River watershed create an environment that feels distinctly southeastern rather than western in character. Gladewater sits in Gregg County at the heart of the East Texas oil patch, and the region's twin cultural identities—timber and oil—have shaped its commercial and social character in ways still visible in the local architecture, commerce, and community institutions.
Caddo Lake, approximately 30 miles to the northeast, is one of the most ecologically distinctive waterways in Texas—a labyrinthine bayou and lake system draped in Spanish moss and bald cypress that is the only naturally formed lake in the state and one of the largest inland wetlands in the American South. The Sam Rayburn Reservoir and Lake O' the Pines provide additional large-water fishing and boating destinations within the broader region. The Kilgore Oil Museum in nearby Kilgore tells the remarkable story of the East Texas Oil Field discovery in 1930, when the greatest oil field in US history was punched open almost simultaneously across thousands of acres, and the historic Derrick Forest of downtown Kilgore—still standing derricks within the city limits—provides one of the most visually striking pieces of industrial heritage in Texas.
Antique Capital RV Park operates year-round, welcoming guests throughout Gladewater's year-round antique commerce season as well as during major regional events including the Gladewater Round-Up Rodeo and local festivals that animate the downtown district with additional vendors and entertainment. The park's combination of on-site pond fishing, pet amenities, and proximity to the antique district makes it the logical base of operations for any serious antique shopping expedition in East Texas, with easy access to Tyler's additional retail and dining resources approximately 20 miles to the west.
