Watersedge Campground

Hadley, New York

2 RV Sites

Directly on the Great Sacandaga Lake in Hadley, New York—in Saratoga County at the Adirondack Park's southern gateway where the largest reservoir in the Adirondack region's watershed provides the swimming, boating, and fishing access that the Adirondack southern corridor's family camping market has organized itself around for generations—Watersedge Campground offers RV sites with full hookups, tent-only spaces, primitive camping, and a 3-bedroom guest house alongside direct Great Sacandaga Lake swimming, boating, and fishing from the campsite waterfront, picnic areas, fire pits, laundry, restrooms, and showers in a family-owned lakefront campground whose direct lake access and the Adirondack Park's surrounding natural environment create the simplest and most rewarding version of the Adirondack summer lake experience. The lake is at the campsite. The mountains are behind it. RV hookup sites, tent-only spaces, and primitive camping positions provide the accommodation range for the spectrum of guests arriving at the Great Sacandaga waterfront—the full-rig RV family, the tent camper traveling light, and the minimalist primitive camper who wants the lake and the fire without the infrastructure overhead. The 3-bedroom guest house extends the accommodation inventory for the group or the family whose tent and RV options have been exhausted or who prefer the enclosed structure for the cool Adirondack nights that the Sacandaga Valley delivers from August onward. Direct lake access for swimming from the waterfront, boat launch for the guest with their own vessel, and fishing from the lake's edge provide the primary water recreation without the shuttle to a separate facility. Picnic areas, fire pits, laundry, restrooms, and showers provide the essential daily infrastructure for a seasonal lakefront campground in the Adirondack Park. Hadley sits in Saratoga County on the Hudson and Sacandaga rivers' confluence at the southern edge of the Adirondack Park—the 6-million-acre patchwork of public and private land that the 1892 constitutional amendment designated "forever wild" in the most extensive environmental protection designation in the eastern United States. The Great Sacandaga Lake—30 miles long and covering 29,000 acres in the Sacandaga River's flooded valley—was created by the 1930 Conklingville Dam's impoundment to control Hudson River flooding, and the reservoir's 125 miles of shoreline provide the swimming, sailing, power boating, and the fishing for walleye, largemouth bass, and northern pike that makes it Adirondack southern gateway's primary freshwater recreation destination. Moreau Lake State Park, 15 miles south near Gansevoort, provides the natural sandy beach, hiking trails, and the lake swimming in the Saratoga County park whose accessible location from the Glens Falls and Saratoga Springs corridor makes it one of the most visited state parks in eastern New York. Saratoga Springs, 25 miles southeast, provides the cultural infrastructure of the Saratoga Race Course's thoroughbred racing season from July through Labor Day, the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, the Saratoga Performing Arts Center's summer concert season, and the Saratoga Spa State Park's historic mineral baths. Watersedge Campground operates seasonally from May 15 through October 15 in the Adirondack southern corridor's summer and early fall schedule, with the July and August peak delivering the fullest Great Sacandaga Lake experience—the warmest water, the longest days, and the boat traffic that signals peak Adirondack summer. The Labor Day weekend shoulder and the September weeks before the October 15 close bring quieter conditions, the lake's bass and walleye fishing at peak autumn activity, and the Adirondack hardwood color that begins in the higher elevations in late September. Reserve your hookup site, tent position, or guest house at Watersedge and let the Great Sacandaga Lake waterfront and the Adirondack Park's southern gateway deliver the honest, lakefront Adirondack summer that the New York mountains have been providing for generations.
