Harker Heights RV Park

Harker Heights, Texas

124 RV Sites

Harker Heights RV Park sits in the fast-growing city of Harker Heights, Texas, in the heart of the Central Texas military corridor, providing a convenient and well-serviced base for visitors to the Fort Cavazos area and for travelers moving along US-190 through the Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood metropolitan region. Positioned within walking or short driving distance of the commercial spine of Harker Heights, the park occupies a practical urban-edge niche that serves both extended-stay military families and transient guests heading deeper into the Texas Hill Country or the Austin-Waco corridor. The park provides full hookup sites with water, electric, and sewer connections, and the on-site swimming pool gives guests a comfortable option for cooling off during Central Texas's long, hot summers. A dedicated dog park adds genuine value for pet-traveling families, and the park's clean, well-maintained grounds reflect the organizational standards expected by the military-affiliated community it frequently serves. Site layouts accommodate a range of RV sizes, and the park's location along a primary commercial corridor ensures easy access to grocery stores, fuel, and dining without a complicated drive. The Central Texas landscape around Harker Heights is defined by the transition from the Blackland Prairie to the eastern limestone escarpments of the Hill Country—a terrain of cedar, live oak, and limestone ledges cut by spring-fed creeks that flow into Belton Lake and Stillhouse Hollow Lake. The region's hot, dry summers and mild winters create a long outdoor season, and the Hill Country's famous display of bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush blankets the roadsides each spring, making March and April one of the most visually striking times to travel through this part of Texas. Stillhouse Hollow Lake, formed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the Lampasas River south of Harker Heights, provides boating, fishing, swimming, and camping opportunities within a short drive, while Belton Lake to the north offers similar recreation with a more developed marina and day-use infrastructure. Austin's live music venues, state capitol complex, and university campus lie approximately one hour to the south, and Waco's rapidly growing attraction roster—anchored by the Magnolia Market, Baylor University campus, and the Dr Pepper Museum—lies about one hour to the north, giving campers a strong pair of day-trip anchors in both directions. Harker Heights RV Park operates year-round and sees consistent occupancy from the military families, contractors, and government workers associated with Fort Cavazos's large active-duty population, supplemented by seasonal travelers using it as a cost-effective base for exploring the Hill Country gateway communities of Lampasas, Burnet, and Marble Falls to the west. The park's combination of solid utility infrastructure, on-site amenities including the pool and dog park, and its position on the edge of both the military metro and the Hill Country's outdoor recreation zone makes it a reliable and practical choice for extended stays in the Killeen area. The park's central position in Harker Heights also puts guests within range of the Bell County Museum in Belton and the Texas Ranger Heritage Center in Waco, both within an hour's drive and well worth a half-day visit for history-focused campers.
