HAPI Trails Ranch

Driggs, Idaho

10 RV Sites

In the wide, glacier-carved Teton Valley of eastern Idaho, where the spired peaks of the Tetons rise dramatically from the eastern skyline and working hay meadows stretch beneath enormous skies, HAPI Trails Ranch offers one of the most specialized camping experiences in the American West. The property is home to the Horse Adoption Program, Inc.—a nonprofit dedicated to the rehabilitation and re-homing of at-risk horses—and access is reserved exclusively for guests who arrive with their own horses. Ten RV hookup sites and multiple dry camping areas share the grounds with a professional network of stalls, corrals, and arenas purpose-built to make horse-and-rider camping as seamless as possible in one of the continent's most breathtaking mountain settings. The ranch provides boarding and overnight accommodation for horses in thoughtful proportion: six stalls near the upper Saddleback Arena, three large corrals along the upper west area, six stalls adjacent to the lower HAPI Trails Arena, and two medium corrals in the lower east area provide ample space for large riding parties on extended trail tours through the valley. RV sites connect with water and electric hookups, and a dump station serves departing rigs. Guests must provide current vaccination records for their horses before arrival, and the property operates seasonally from May 1 through October 31 to align with the Teton Valley's optimal riding conditions. The landscape surrounding HAPI Trails Ranch is among the most spectacular available to any horse camping destination in the country—a sweeping mountain valley flanked by the Tetons on the east and the Big Hole Mountains on the west, threaded with trails that access both wilderness corridors within a short trailer drive. The Teton Valley offers hundreds of miles of back-country riding through wildflower meadows, aspen groves, and high mountain passes that clear of snow by mid-summer and reward riders with panoramic views across three states. The Snake River bottomlands provide lower-elevation options during early season before the high country opens, keeping the ranch a productive base throughout the entire operating window. Grand Teton National Park begins just east of Teton Pass, with the Jackson Hole valley accessible via Wyoming 22 for day trips combining iconic mountain scenery with wildlife viewing of moose, bison, and resident grizzlies in the sagebrush flats. Guided wildlife tours into the National Elk Refuge operate from Jackson, revealing one of the continent's largest elk concentrations for riders seeking a non-equestrian afternoon between trail days. Yellowstone National Park lies roughly two hours north through Island Park, making a full-day excursion to Old Faithful and the Lamar Valley wildlife corridor manageable from the Teton Valley as a rest-day adventure. The ranch's best riding season runs from late June through September, when high-country passes clear and the Teton Valley's wildflower meadows reach peak bloom across the foothills. August delivers the most reliably clear weather, with warm afternoons and cool evenings that keep both horse and rider comfortable on long days in the hills. Reservations fill quickly among equestrian clubs, trail riding groups, and long-distance riders who have discovered HAPI Trails Ranch as one of the premier horse-camping addresses in the Northern Rockies—book well ahead of the summer season to secure stall space and site availability.
