Yanawana Camp

San Antonio, Texas

5 RV Sites

Yanawana Camp in San Antonio, Texas, is a 2.4-acre year-round South Central Texas RV park with five back-in full-hookup sites — a small, charming campground in the most historically significant city in Texas, where the Alamo's 1836 battle heritage, the San Antonio Missions UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the River Walk's 15-mile urban waterway give guests the concentrated historical and cultural tourism of the most visited city in Texas from an intimate, independently operated urban RV park within the practical distance of San Antonio's downtown and its world-class cultural institutions. San Antonio's Bexar County position at the crossroads of I-10, I-35, and I-37 gives Yanawana Camp the metropolitan San Antonio access to the historic missions corridor, the Pearl District's craft brewery and restaurant scene, and the natural recreation of the Hill Country that the city's northwest position on the Balcones Escarpment's edge makes accessible within a 30-minute drive. Five full-hookup back-in RV sites with the complete amenities and the year-round San Antonio operation give Yanawana Camp the intimate urban RV campground character of a small, carefully managed property in one of the most historically significant American cities — the camp's small scale gives guests the quiet, private character that the 2.4-acre Bexar County property specifically sustains within the San Antonio metropolitan landscape, and the full-hookup service gives the traveling RV visitor the complete utility infrastructure for multi-day San Antonio cultural and historical touring. Pets are welcome. The San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015, preserves the most complete concentration of Spanish colonial mission architecture in the United States — a linear park of four missions on the San Antonio River south of downtown (Mission Concepción, Mission San José, Mission San Juan, and Mission Espada) that give the UNESCO designation its specific recognition of the Spanish colonial evangelization effort's physical legacy in the most intact form preserved anywhere in the former Spanish borderlands of the American Southwest. The Mission Trail's 8-mile linear park connects the four missions by trail and roadway in the most accessible heritage mission walk in the Americas. The Alamo, at Alamo Plaza in downtown San Antonio, is the most visited historic site in Texas — the 1836 Battle of the Alamo's 13-day siege, where approximately 189 Texan defenders held the Spanish mission against Santa Anna's Mexican Army before being defeated, gave the Republic of Texas its most potent rallying cry and the shrine of Texas liberty its specific national significance in the narrative of the American westward expansion and the Texas independence movement. The Alamo's Long Barrack Museum and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas's historical collection give the site the interpretive depth of the mission's full 1718-to-1836 history. Yanawana Camp serves guests year-round in Bexar County's south-central Texas climate, with the mild winters sustaining the year-round cultural tourism and the Fiesta San Antonio festival's 100-plus events in late April — the largest annual festival in Texas with 3.5 million attendees celebrating San Antonio's diverse heritage — representing the most significant annual event in the San Antonio cultural calendar. Natural Bridge Caverns, 20 miles north of San Antonio off I-35 at the Natural Bridge Caverns Road, is the largest commercial cave system in Texas, with five tours through the limestone caverns giving the family market the Hill Country geology experience. Reserve sites well ahead for the Fiesta San Antonio period and major San Antonio Spurs playoff home games.
