4.52 reviewsIn Mountain Home, Texas—in Kerr County where the Edwards Plateau's limestone hills, cedar brakes, and spring-fed creeks create the Texas Hill Country landscape that Kerrville, Fredericksburg, and the Guadalupe River corridor have made among the most celebrated nature and arts destinations in the state—Homestead Hill at 155 Thrill Hill Road offers full hookup RV sites with WiFi, a dog park, laundry, and a bathhouse in a friendly, owner-operated campground managed by Brian and Stephanie Burger whose 10-minute position from Kerrville and 40-minute position from Fredericksburg creates the Hill Country base camp that the surrounding Kerr County arts, music, and outdoor recreation scene makes genuinely useful across the full annual calendar. The Hill Country is outside every window. Kerrville is 10 minutes down the road.
Full hookup sites with electric, water, and sewer provide the RV infrastructure alongside WiFi, a dog park for the traveling pets, coin laundry, and a clean bathhouse in a campground whose owner-operated character means the personal attention and flexible hospitality that the larger managed parks cannot consistently provide. Coming additions—the renovated bathhouse, group firepit area, hot tub, community vegetable garden, and privately fenced sites—reflect the ongoing investment in the property that owners with a long-term Hill Country commitment make in the campground they've chosen to develop. The pet-friendly policy serves the traveling families whose dogs are as enthusiastic about the cedar-and-oak Hill Country landscape as their owners.
Mountain Home sits in Kerr County on US-83 between Kerrville and Junction, in the Guadalupe River headwaters country where the Hill Country's characteristic topography—the cedar-covered limestone ridges, the spring-fed creek draws, and the river valley meadows that the Kerr County landscape assembles in the arrangement that Kerrville's arts community has spent 70 years painting, photographing, and celebrating—creates the scenery that the campground's window views provide without a day trip. The Guadalupe River's headwaters northwest of Kerrville produce the clear-water trout stream that the Guadalupe River State Park and the private Guadalupe River corridor sustain with the Edwards Plateau's cold spring-water inputs.
Kerrville, 10 minutes east on US-83, provides the Hill Country's most complete small-city cultural infrastructure—the Schreiner University campus, the Museum of Western Art's oil paintings and bronze sculptures celebrating the cowboy and ranching tradition, the Louise Hays Park riverfront recreation on the Guadalupe, and the Kerrville Folk Festival's 18-day June event in Quiet Valley Ranch that brings the American folk music tradition to the Hill Country in one of the longest-running outdoor music festivals in the country. Crider's Rodeo and Dance Hall, a Kerr County institution, provides the authentic Texas Saturday night experience that the Hill Country's ranching culture has preserved. Stonehenge II, the whimsical Hill Country replica of the Wiltshire standing stones, provides the absurdist roadside attraction that the Hill Country Arts Foundation's cultural creativity permits.
Fredericksburg, 40 minutes southeast via SH-41 and US-290, adds the German Hill Country wine country experience—the Wildseed Farms wildflower fields, the National Museum of the Pacific War, and the Fredericksburg winery corridor on US-290 that has made the Fredericksburg AVA Texas's most celebrated wine-tourism destination. Homestead Hill operates year-round in Kerr County's temperate Hill Country climate, with the Kerrville Folk Festival in late May and early June, the fall deer season in October and November, and the Christmas lighting of Fredericksburg the three most activity-intensive periods in the annual calendar. Reserve your site at Homestead Hill and let the Kerr County Hill Country, Kerrville's folk music and Western art, and the Guadalupe River headwaters deliver the authentic Texas Hill Country experience that the campground's cedar ridge setting promises.

We stayed at this location during the April 2024 eclipse. We were lucky enough to make a last-minute reservation because of a cancellation. The rates were very reasonable and were not extremely inflated because of the eclipse event. I saw other parks charging $350 a night.
The owners were super nice and mad...Show more
