4.01 reviewsOn 35 acres at 34094 California State Highway 41 in Coarsegold—in Madera County in the Sierra Nevada foothills 25 miles south of Yosemite National Park's South Entrance at Wawona, where the blue oak and manzanita-covered rolling hills of the Sierra's western foothills transition from the San Joaquin Valley's agricultural floor into the higher-elevation mixed conifer forests that the park's Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias and the Wawona Meadow preserve at the national park's southern boundary—Yosemite RV Resort provides full hookup RV sites, tent sites, fully-furnished cottage and yurt rentals, an outdoor swimming pool, a playground, horseshoe pits, a dog park, a general store, laundry, propane service, and a clubhouse on the 35-acre oak-and-manzanita property that the Highway 41 Yosemite gateway positions as the campground between the San Joaquin Valley's heat and Yosemite's elevation, serving both the overnight transit market and the extended-stay visitor who uses Coarsegold as a base while driving to the park each day without the Yosemite valley's reservation congestion. The 25-mile South Entrance proximity, the furnished yurt and cottage options, and the swimming pool and general store on 35 oak-shaded acres define what makes Yosemite RV Resort a functional Yosemite gateway rather than a generic Central California campground.
Full hookup RV sites with electric, water, and sewer connections on the oak-shaded 35-acre property accommodate the full range of RV configurations from compact travel trailers to large Class A coaches on level sites within the Sierra foothills' rolling terrain. Tent sites with fire rings and picnic tables serve the lightweight camping guest. Fully-furnished cottage rentals and yurts provide the enclosed sleeping option with beds and climate comfort for the Yosemite visitor without an RV who wants the campground atmosphere with enclosed-shelter comfort. A large outdoor swimming pool with mountain view terrace provides the heat relief that the Coarsegold foothills' summer temperatures make the most practical amenity on a hot afternoon after a day in the park. A playground, horseshoe pits, dog park, and community outdoor seating areas complete the on-property recreation and social gathering infrastructure. A general store, propane fill, laundry, and WiFi handle the daily practical requirements.
Yosemite National Park's South Entrance at Wawona—25 miles north on Highway 41—provides the access point that the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias at the south end and the Yosemite Valley's 7-mile glacial canyon with El Capitan, Half Dome, Yosemite Falls, and the valley floor meadows make the world's most visited national park annually. The Mariposa Grove's 500-plus giant sequoias—including the Grizzly Giant at over 3,000 years old—provide the Grove Walk that concentrates the most impressive individual trees accessible from the south park entry point without requiring the full valley drive.
Oakhurst—10 minutes south on Highway 41—provides the last full-service commercial center before the South Entrance, with grocery stores, restaurants, outdoor retailers, and the Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau's regional tourism information that the gateway community has organized around the park's southern approach since the 1890s when the stagecoach road from Raymond to Wawona first brought visitors to the Sierra from the valley floor.
Yosemite RV Resort is open year-round. Summer represents the Yosemite Valley's peak demand period, when Yosemite Valley lodging requires reservations months in advance and the Coarsegold gateway campground fills correspondingly. The spring wildflower season in the Sierra foothills from March through May and the fall leaf color in October provide the shoulder-season visits when Yosemite's crowds thin and the park's character becomes more contemplative. Reserve early for summer, drive north at opening time for the best valley experience, and let the 35 oak-shaded acres and the South Entrance proximity earn the Yosemite gateway experience that the highway 41 foothills corridor provides.

The day we came in, it was raining, so the road getting to our site #11 was very muddy and not well-defined. The spot itself was level and easy to get in to with a grassy/pebble base. Just be aware that this park is very remote, so you will have many curves, switchbacks, and hairpin turns on the way up on C...Show more
