Wedges Creek Hideaway
Greenwood, Wisconsin
12 RV Sites, 5 Cabins, 1 House
5.01 reviewsOn the wooded banks of Wedges Creek in Greenwood, Wisconsin—in the dairy country and mixed hardwood forest of Clark County that sits in the geographic heart of the state—Wedges Creek Hideaway operates a third-generation family farm turned camping destination with a brick oven pizza restaurant, disc golf course, hiking trails, and a creek-side setting that gives the campground a character entirely its own. The Saturday evening pizza-with-music tradition, the disc golf course through the woods, the gaga ball pit, and the creek that runs through the property reflect a deliberate investment in the experiential dimensions of camping that distinguishes a family operation from a formulaic campground. When a property has been in one family for three generations and evolved into a destination through genuine love of the land, it shows.
RV sites with electric hookup serve guests with rigs, and a range of tent camping positions gives the property's most nature-oriented visitors the direct creek-access options that the Wedges Creek frontage makes possible. Primitive cabins and fully furnished cabin and house rentals provide the enclosed accommodation options for guests who want the creek-side experience without personal camping equipment. A shared shower and restroom facility, picnic pavilion, sand volleyball court, playground, and giant sandbox provide the social and recreational infrastructure for family camping across all ages. Hiking trails cover several miles of the surrounding farm and forest landscape, and a disc golf course through the trees adds the sport-camping dimension that the Clark County forest environment supports particularly well. WiFi keeps connected guests connected, and the general store handles the provisioning basics. Gaga ball—the enclosed dodgeball variant popular at summer camps and youth programs—rounds out the organized activity options.
The creek that defines the property and gives it its name is the natural feature that organizes the camping experience at Wedges Creek Hideaway in the most fundamental way. A clear, cold Wisconsin stream fed by springs and the surrounding watershed, Wedges Creek provides the swimming, wading, and fishing access that creek-side camping has always promised, and the sound of moving water in a forest setting provides the natural background that resort campgrounds with generators and entertainment programming cannot replicate. The wildflower diversity of the creek bank in spring, the crayfish and small fish populations accessible to children with nets, and the cool microclimate that the creek's shade and water create on warm Wisconsin summer afternoons all contribute to the campground's natural appeal.
Clark County's position in the central Wisconsin dairy country provides a regional landscape of working farms, cheese factories, and the small-town Wisconsin character that the state's rural interior preserves with considerable charm. The Dells of the Eau Claire County Park—where the Eau Claire River runs through exposed Precambrian rhyolite in one of the more dramatic geological features of central Wisconsin—is accessible for a day trip that surprises visitors who arrive expecting flat farm country and encounter dramatic rock formations instead. The surrounding Clark County forest and the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest to the north provide additional hiking and nature access.
Wedges Creek Hideaway is open seasonally through the Wisconsin camping calendar, with the peak social season running from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The Saturday pizza nights during summer bring the campground's community character to its most vibrant expression—a gathering around the brick oven with the creek as background noise and disc golf as the afternoon's activity before dinner. Reserve your creek-side site early for summer weekends and let three generations of family investment in this Wisconsin farm show you what a camping destination built with genuine care rather than a franchise model looks like.
