Turkey Hill RV Park

Hamilton, Alabama

9 RV Sites, 2 Tent Sites, 1 Onsite RV/Trailer

Turkey Hill RV Park in Hamilton, Alabama, sits just off Exit 14 on I-22 in Marion County's northwest Alabama hill country — a full-service campground with cabins, hookup sites, and tent camping that combines practical interstate accessibility with the specific outdoor recreation character of the Dismal Canyon and Natural Land Bridge area that gives northwest Alabama a geological and recreational identity rarely known outside the state. The campground's on-site activity programming and proximity to the Natural Land Bridge and Dismal Canyon create a destination appeal well beyond the stopover function that an I-22 exit address might initially suggest. Cabin accommodations, full hookup sites, and tent camping areas cover the range of overnight preferences, and the campground's on-site activity roster — ping pong, cornhole, a frisbee golf course, and pickleball — provides structured recreational programming for groups and families who want activity options without the drive to an off-property facility. The welcoming atmosphere and the campground's genuine investment in making guests of all interests comfortable give Turkey Hill the community-oriented character that family campgrounds build repeat visitors around. Pets are welcome. The Natural Land Bridge and Natural Arch, a few miles from the campground in the Natural Land Trust preserve, are the most geologically remarkable features in northwest Alabama — a natural sandstone bridge spanning a ravine and a natural arch formation in the same karst-influenced sandstone landscape that produces the canyon terrain distinctive to the Alabama-Mississippi border hill country. The Natural Land Bridge is one of the largest natural bridges in the eastern United States and provides a genuinely impressive geological experience in a natural preserve that retains the undeveloped character of the surrounding forest. Dismal Canyon, in the Bankhead National Forest area of northwest Alabama, is a forested sandstone canyon system with waterfalls, slot canyon passages, and old-growth forest character that consistently impresses visitors who come expecting Alabama flatlands and find instead a rugged canyon landscape with its own distinctive beauty. The canyon's relative remoteness from major population centers keeps it less trafficked than its natural quality would suggest, and the combination of waterfall hiking and slot canyon exploration makes it a compelling destination for guests willing to make the off-pavement drive. Bear Creek Canoe Run provides flatwater and mild moving-water paddling access in the Bear Creek watershed east of Hamilton — a float trip through agricultural and forest-edged creek scenery that represents the accessible family paddling option for guests without whitewater experience. Rock Bridge Canyon Equestrian Park and the Guin Waterpark add family recreation options across different interest categories within the Marion County and surrounding northwest Alabama day-trip range. Turkey Hill RV Park serves guests year-round in Alabama's mild climate, with spring and fall representing the most comfortable seasons for the Dismal Canyon and Natural Land Bridge hiking that drives destination camping visits to the Hamilton area. Reserve ahead for spring and fall weekend periods when the northwest Alabama canyon country sees its strongest visitor demand.
