5.02 reviewsStella Mare RV Resort in Galveston, Texas, provides a resort-caliber waterfront RV camping experience on Galveston Island where the Gulf of Mexico's warm waters, the historic island's century-old tourism infrastructure, and the unique ecological character of the Texas barrier island create a multi-dimensional destination camping experience. The resort's water park, splash pad, hot tub, pool, and big-rig-friendly full hookup sites deliver a self-contained resort environment on the island's accessible western end, positioning guests within the Galveston experience—beach, Seawall, Strand historic district, and Moody Gardens—without the premium hotel pricing that Galveston's tourism industry commands during the peak summer season.
The resort's amenity package delivers resort-quality water recreation: a water park with pool and splash pad, hot tub and sauna, a pond and lake, community fire pit, clubhouse, dog park, playground, laundry, showers, bathrooms, and Wi-Fi provide a complete on-property recreation environment for families whose Galveston itinerary combines resort-level comfort with the island's extensive public beaches and attraction roster. Full hookup big-rig-friendly sites accommodate the large motorhomes common among families touring the Texas Gulf Coast, and the pet-friendly policy serves the traveling companions that Galveston beach visitors routinely bring for the island's pet-accessible beach sections.
Galveston Island's distinctive character as a barrier island with a century-long tourism history produces a layered destination experience unavailable at most Texas coastal communities—the Seawall's 10-mile promenade, the Strand National Historic Landmark District's Victorian commercial architecture, Moody Gardens' pyramid attractions, and the Texas Seaport Museum's 1877 tall ship Elissa exist alongside the natural beach environment of a Gulf Coast barrier island in a combination that rewards multi-day visits with genuine variety. The island's proximity to Houston—approximately 50 miles southeast via I-45—makes it the most accessible beach destination for the greater Houston area's 7 million metropolitan residents.
The Galveston Island State Park on the western end of the island preserves 2,000 acres of barrier island ecosystem including both Gulf beach and bayside wetland habitats, providing hiking, birding, and the natural island experience that the developed eastern end's commercialization does not retain. The Bolivar Ferry's free vehicle and passenger crossing from Galveston's eastern end to the Bolivar Peninsula provides access to the Gulf Coast's least-developed major beach community and the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge's extraordinary birding opportunities in the coastal marsh communities north of the Bolivar flats.
Stella Mare RV Resort operates year-round in Galveston's subtropical Gulf climate, with the summer season from Memorial Day through Labor Day driving maximum family visitation to the island's beaches and the resort's water park facilities. The moderate winter temperatures allow year-round camping for snowbirds who use Galveston as a Gulf Coast winter base and appreciate the island's urban amenities alongside the mild coastal climate. Spring's wildflower season along the I-45 corridor and the Bolivar Peninsula's spring shorebird migration create additional seasonal appeal for guests whose Galveston visit combines beach recreation with natural history exploration of the upper Gulf Coast corridor.

Short palm trees are planted around the lots. Those look nice but do not give much shade. Overall a nice and convenient pla...Show more
