Grandview Cabins & RV Resort
South Fork, Colorado
81 RV Sites, 12 Cabins, 2 Tent Sites
Along the Silver Thread Scenic Byway in South Fork, Colorado—in Rio Grande County at 8,200 feet where the Rio Grande's headwater reaches, the San Juan Mountains' volcanic summits, the Wolf Creek ski area's 460 inches of annual snowfall, and the historic silver mining town of Creede create the southwestern Colorado mountain destination that the San Luis Valley's most dramatic northern approach provides for the angler, the skier, the ATV rider, and the summer mountain visitor—Grandview Cabins & RV Resort provides 86 full hookup RV sites with water, sewer, and electric, 12 fully stocked cabins with kitchens, satellite TV, covered porches, and WiFi, tent sites with fire pits, a hot tub, a recreation hall, laundry, showers, a dog park, walking trails, community fire pits, and a propane station alongside the Rio Grande Club's PGA-championship golf course 5 minutes west and the Rio Grande River's gold-medal fishing directly accessible from the resort's Silver Thread Scenic Byway position. Hot tub at 8,200 feet. Gold-medal Rio Grande fishing. Wolf Creek is 25 miles up the pass.
The 86 full hookup RV sites with water, sewer, and electric accommodate the full rig spectrum in the high-altitude South Fork setting where the morning temperature at 8,200 feet makes the hookup pad's climate-control capability a genuine operational necessity even in July. Twelve fully stocked cabins—with kitchens, satellite TV, WiFi, and covered porches—provide the enclosed accommodation for the angler who wants a base camp with storage, cleaning space, and warmth after the Rio Grande evening hatch. Tent sites with fire pits provide the backcountry-comfortable third option. The hot tub, recreation hall, walking trails, community fire pits, dog park, laundry, and propane station create the mountain resort's daily infrastructure without the luxury resort pricing that the Wolf Creek ski corridor's Pagosa Springs properties command.
South Fork sits in Rio Grande County on US-160 at the confluence of the South Fork and the Rio Grande, in the mountain gateway community where the Silver Thread Scenic Byway (CO-149) heads north toward Creede and Lake City through the Weminuche Wilderness edge and the Lake Fork of the Gunnison headwaters. The Rio Grande's gold-medal fishing designation between South Fork and the Collier State Wildlife Area downstream reflects the river's brown and rainbow trout fishery in the clear, cold headwater reaches above the San Luis Valley's irrigation diversion—the San Juan Mountains' snowmelt sustains the late-season flows that the gold-medal river's insect hatches require for the dry-fly conditions that the fly-fishing community pursues from South Fork throughout the summer.
Creede, 20 miles north on CO-149, provides the historic silver mining town whose Bachelor Historic Tour, the Creede Repertory Theatre's professional theater season, and the Wheeler Geologic Area's volcanic tuff formations create the Rio Grande County cultural experience accessible in a morning drive. Wolf Creek Ski Area, 25 miles west on US-160, receives more snowfall than any other Colorado ski area—the 430-plus inches of average annual snowfall on the Continental Divide creates the light, dry powder conditions that the South Fork corridor's snowmobile community pursues when the lifts aren't running.
Grandview Cabins & RV Resort operates year-round in Rio Grande County's mountain climate, with the summer fishing and hiking season from May through October, the Wolf Creek ski and snowmobile season from November through April, and the ATV and Jeep trail season on the surrounding San Juan mountain roads creating the four-season activity that the South Fork corridor sustains. Reserve your site or cabin at Grandview and let the gold-medal Rio Grande, the hot tub, and Wolf Creek's 460 inches make the San Juan Mountains' most accessible headwater valley the Colorado mountain retreat that the Silver Thread Scenic Byway leads to.
