Flying Horse RV Park

Bowie, Texas

66 RV Sites, 30 Tent Sites

Positioned near Amon G. Carter Lake in Bowie, Texas, Flying Horse RV Park offers a rural north Texas camping experience centered on a well-appointed property with a stocked fishing pond, outdoor kitchen and deck facilities, and country-view sites that give guests the open horizon and quiet of the Montague County ranching landscape. The park's emphasis on a comfortable, community-oriented stay—reflected in its outdoor social spaces and variety of on-site recreational options—makes it a welcoming destination for both short overnight stays and longer visits in this corner of north Texas between Wichita Falls and the Fort Worth metro area. Sites provide country views across the park's open grounds alongside picnic table setups, and the well-maintained bathrooms and showers address daily hygiene needs cleanly. A general store stocked with RV essentials, snacks, and supplies serves as a convenience resource for guests between town trips, and the outdoor kitchen and expansive deck overlooking the property's paddleboard pond give guests a social gathering space suited to evening meals, informal conversations, and sunset watching across the green pastures that surround the property. Pickleball courts and an 11-acre walking trail that loops the property provide active recreation options for guests who want to stay on-site between outings. The stocked fishing pond is a key feature of the Flying Horse guest experience—a convenient and reliably productive angling option that allows guests to fish from within the property without driving to a regional lake or river. The pond's stocking gives families with younger anglers a consistent and accessible first fishing experience, and the park's walking trail through the surrounding ranch country extends the outdoor recreation footprint beyond the campground's core facilities in a direction appropriate to the north Texas landscape. Downtown Bowie, approximately six miles from the campground, is well known for its Second Monday Trade Days—a long-running open-air market drawing vendors and buyers from across north Texas on the weekend surrounding the second Monday of each month. Twisted Oaks Golf Course is less than two miles from the campground, providing a local golf option for guests who want to get out on a course during a multi-night stay. The Amon G. Carter Lake public boat ramp provides lake access for guests arriving with watercraft, and the River Bend Nature Center offers educational nature programming accessible on a day trip for families with younger guests. Flying Horse RV Park is open year-round, with north Texas's climate supporting outdoor recreation across a long season from early spring through late fall. Spring and fall represent the most comfortable seasons for the property's outdoor recreational programming, and the park's walking trail is particularly appealing during the cooler months when Montague County's open range landscape shows its characteristic character. The park's combination of on-site amenities and proximity to Bowie's trade days and regional attractions makes it a productive stopover for guests on north Texas road trips as well as a relaxed multi-night destination.
