Cypress Landing RV Park nestles along the scenic shores of Gantt Lake in Covington County, Alabama, providing a locally-owned, family-friendly lakeside camping experience on a 2,700-acre reservoir with 21 miles of shoreline in the heart of south Alabama's piney woods country. The park's combination of direct lake access, comprehensive water recreation facilities, and the genuine small-town hospitality of a family-operated property distinguishes it from chain campgrounds in a region where the Alabama Wiregrass country's natural lakes and rivers provide the primary outdoor recreation draw for a large and devoted local camping community. The park's lakefront position comes with fishing pier access, boat docks, boat rentals, a beach for swimming, and walking trails through the property's wooded perimeter—a water recreation package that gives guests full engagement with Gantt Lake's fishing and boating resources from the campground without requiring a drive to a public launch. A pond adds secondary fishing access, laundry and showers address extended-stay practicalities, and the playground, basketball, and corn hole provide organized activity options for families whose camping schedule includes structured recreation alongside lake time. Planned activities and canoeing and kayaking rentals complete the on-site recreation ecosystem. Gantt Lake is a hydroelectric reservoir on the Conecuh River in Covington County, formed by Gantt Dam and serving as a central recreational anchor for the surrounding community where bass and crappie fishing, waterskiing, and pontoon boating define the warm-weather outdoor culture. The reservoir's 21 miles of wooded shoreline provide both developed recreation access at parks like Cypress Landing and undeveloped wild shoreline accessible only by boat, giving anglers and naturalists territory to explore beyond the maintained facilities. The Conecuh River above the lake is a designated National Wild and Scenic River known for its sand bars, clear water, and the longleaf pine forest that lines its banks through the Conecuh National Forest. The Conecuh National Forest, extending across portions of Covington and Escambia counties, protects significant acreage of longleaf pine flatwoods and the creek drainages feeding Gantt Lake, providing hiking, primitive camping, and fishing opportunities in the natural landscape surrounding the reservoir. The Conecuh Trail, a 20-mile hiking and backpacking route through the national forest, passes through longleaf pine stands, pitcher plant bogs, and the clear creek systems that support the forest's distinctive natural community. Florala State Park, at the south end of Lake Jackson approximately 20 miles east, provides additional lake recreation access with swimming facilities and boat ramps in the Alabama Wiregrass region. Cypress Landing RV Park operates seasonally from spring through fall in south Alabama's subtropical climate, with the fishing seasons for bass in spring and crappie through the summer months driving the most consistent recreational demand. Summer's heat is the primary limiting factor for outdoor activity, but the lake's swimming beach and the property's tree cover moderate conditions sufficiently for comfortable camping during morning and evening hours when the day's heat peaks in mid-afternoon. The park's combination of direct lakefront infrastructure, family operation character, and affordable south Alabama pricing makes it a well-regarded choice for repeat anglers and families who return annually to Gantt Lake for the consistently productive fishing and easy summer lake lifestyle.
