Cripple Creek Hospitality House and Travel Park in Cripple Creek, Colorado, combines full-service RV park accommodations with hotel lodging in one of the most historically rich and geologically dramatic settings in the Colorado Rockies—a high-altitude gold mining town perched at 9,500 feet on the southwestern flank of Pikes Peak where the 1890s gold rush produced one of the wealthiest and most colorful mining communities in American history. The property's year-round operations and position in Cripple Creek's historic commercial district make it a natural base for guests exploring the town's unique combination of Victorian heritage, gaming culture, and high-country outdoor recreation. The park provides full hookup sites with water, electric, and sewer service alongside a dog park, RV storage, food truck access, a recreation center, and laundry facilities—a comprehensive amenity package suited to both short stays and extended winter accommodations in a location where the proximity to gaming, dining, and the town's historical attractions eliminates the need to drive elsewhere for evening entertainment. The hotel component serves guests who prefer standard room accommodations to RV camping, and the combined hotel-and-campground model makes the property useful for mixed travel groups where some members prefer different lodging formats. Cripple Creek occupies a volcanic crater valley on the back side of Pikes Peak in Teller County, a geological curiosity that concentrated the gold-bearing volcanic intrusions responsible for the vast wealth extracted from this district between 1890 and the mid-twentieth century. More than $800 million in gold—equivalent to billions in modern dollars—was extracted from the Cripple Creek and Victor gold districts, making this one of the most productive gold-mining regions in United States history. The Victorian-era brick commercial buildings and mining infrastructure that survive in both Cripple Creek and neighboring Victor provide one of the most complete nineteenth-century mining town landscapes accessible in Colorado. Cripple Creek's legalized gaming—approved in 1991 as part of Colorado's historic mining town casino initiative—fills the town's historic buildings with slots and table games that attract overnight and day visitors from the Colorado Springs and Denver metropolitan areas, providing entertainment revenue that funds the preservation of the town's built heritage. The Cripple Creek and Victor Narrow Gauge Railroad operates scenic excursion trips through the old mining district during summer, providing passengers with views of historic mine workings and the surrounding high-country landscape. Pikes Peak—accessible via the Pikes Peak Highway from Colorado Springs—is the most-visited mountain in North America and a landmark viewable from multiple overlooks within the Cripple Creek area. Cripple Creek Hospitality House and Travel Park operates year-round at an elevation that brings significant snowfall and genuinely alpine winter conditions to the mining district. Summer and fall represent the most comfortable camping seasons, while the town's winter gaming culture and proximity to Colorado Springs skiing keeps year-round occupancy viable. The property's dual hotel-and-campground identity, full-service park infrastructure, and position in one of Colorado's most historically distinctive communities make it a well-suited base for guests who want to combine casino entertainment, Victorian mining heritage, and high-country Colorado scenery in a single destination.
