4.01 reviewsBig Rock Candy Mountain Resort in Sevier, Utah, occupies the base of the actual Big Rock Candy Mountain—the colorful sedimentary and volcanic formation of sulfur-yellow, iron-red, and manganese-white mineral deposits in the canyon walls of the Sevier River corridor that inspired the classic American hobo folk song's image of an effortless paradise with cigarette trees and lemonade springs. The resort's position in the Sevier River canyon south of Richfield along US-89 delivers a unique combination of an iconic American cultural landmark, a zip line through the canyon, fishing on the river, biking on the canyon trail, and the dining and general store amenities that make the Big Rock Candy Mountain canyon a genuine multi-hour destination rather than simply a roadside historical marker.
The resort's facility combines active recreation amenities with the river camping infrastructure that the Sevier River canyon setting enables: a zip line through the colorful canyon terrain, bike rentals with biking trail access along the river, kayaking and canoeing on the Sevier River, fishing in the river for brown and rainbow trout, hiking trails into the canyon terrain, planned activities, dining on site, a general store, propane fills, showers, bathrooms, laundry, dump station, and Wi-Fi serve the travelers and campers whose US-89 corridor positioning makes the Big Rock Candy Mountain a natural stopping point on the southern Utah scenic highway between Richfield and Marysvale. The canyon's vivid mineral-striped walls provide the visual backdrop that no resort construction can replicate.
The Big Rock Candy Mountain's distinctive coloration results from the hydrothermal mineral deposition that volcanic activity along the Tushar Mountain geothermal zone produced when superheated water leached sulfur, iron, and manganese from the surrounding volcanic rock and redeposited them in the vivid striped pattern that makes the canyon wall unmistakable from US-89. The Sevier River canyon through which US-89 descends from Richfield toward Marysvale and the Piute Reservoir passes through this hydrothermal zone where the Marysvale volcanic field's geothermal activity left behind the most visually dramatic mineral display in central Utah's canyon landscape outside the national park system.
Fishlake National Forest, accessible from multiple trailheads within 20 miles of the resort via forest roads ascending the Tushar Mountains, provides 1.4 million acres of central Utah upland recreation terrain where fish Lake—one of Utah's most celebrated fishing lakes at 8,800 feet elevation—and the surrounding mountain meadow and aspen forest create a high-mountain counterpoint to the canyon's desert character. The Fremont Indian State Park and Museum at Clear Creek Canyon, approximately 15 miles north via I-70, preserves the most significant concentration of Fremont culture rock art in Utah in a canyon that was exposed by the I-70 construction in 1983 when road crews discovered one of the largest known Fremont village sites.
Big Rock Candy Mountain Resort operates seasonally in Sevier County's central Utah climate, with the summer season from May through October delivering the warm days and cool canyon evenings that make the Sevier River corridor's zip line, biking, kayaking, and fishing recreation most rewarding. The US-89 corridor's position as the primary scenic alternative to I-15 for travelers between Salt Lake City and southern Utah's national parks makes the resort a consistently appealing rest stop for road-trip travelers who want a genuine canyon recreation experience rather than a fuel stop, and the Big Rock Candy Mountain's cultural landmark status ensures that the name recognition draws visitors from across the country who grew up with the folk song's imagery.

Clean, good spacing, my space had water, power and black tank hookups. Not all spaces have full hook up. So inquire before booking.
Mindy at the gift shop was absolutely the sweetest, very helpful. Gift shop is just that with some groceries, mainly snacks and array of drinks and bike rentals.
