Hidden Lake RV Ranch in Jacksboro, Texas, is a serene, family-friendly campground in Jack County offering spacious RV sites with 30 and 50-amp full hookup service along tree-lined lanes in the Rolling Plains and Cross Timbers country of north-central Texas — a peaceful rural campground whose lake setting, shaded sites, and family-oriented character give guests the quiet north Texas countryside experience that the Jack County landscape sustains between the Fort Worth metropolitan area 75 miles southeast and the Wichita Falls urban corridor 55 miles north. Jacksboro's position on US-281 at the intersection of the Rolling Plains and the Cross Timbers' eastern margin gives the campground the specific north Texas rural character of a lake campground in the agricultural and ranch country that the Jack County community of 4,500 sustains as the county seat of one of the Texas Rolling Plains' most historically significant frontier counties. Spacious full-hookup RV sites with 30 and 50-amp electrical service in a tree-lined lake ranch setting give Hidden Lake RV Ranch the comfortable family campground infrastructure that the Jack County rural location and the on-site lake access specifically sustain — the lake view and the tree-lined site lanes give the campground the natural amenity that the north Texas cross timbers landscape provides when the post oak and cedar elm woodland preserves the shaded lane character that the open Rolling Plains ranching country outside the campground otherwise lacks. Pets are welcome. Fort Richardson State Park and Historic Site, immediately adjacent to Jacksboro on US-281, is one of the most significant military heritage sites in north Texas — the southernmost of the forts established in 1867 along the Texas frontier defense line from the Red River to the Rio Grande, where General William T. Sherman's 1871 inspection visit coincided with the Salt Creek Massacre's Kiowa raid and prompted the arrest of Satanta and Big Tree in one of the most significant events of the Red River War's opening period. The fort's seven preserved stone buildings, the parade ground, and the Fort Richardson Museum's interpretation of the Buffalo Soldiers' frontier service give the state park the specific post-Civil War frontier military history that the Texas frontier line's most active period in 1867-1875 sustains. Lake Jacksboro, the municipal reservoir immediately north of the campground, gives Hidden Lake guests the closest north Texas freshwater fishing and water recreation access — the lake's bass, crappie, and catfish fishery and the lakeshore access give the Jack County campground its specific hidden lake character that the property name directly references. Lake Palo Pinto, 40 miles southeast of Jacksboro in Palo Pinto County, provides the expanded bass and catfish fishing and the Possum Kingdom Lake access that give the greater Jack and Palo Pinto County campground corridor its more expansive lake recreation options for the multi-day north Texas lake visit. Hidden Lake RV Ranch serves guests year-round in Jack County's north Texas continental climate, where the mild winters sustain the RV camping and the spring and fall seasons provide the most comfortable conditions for the Fort Richardson historic touring, the north Texas ranch country exploration, and the lake fishing that the Jack County area's specific character of a rural north Texas frontier county seat sustains. The Jacksboro area's proximity to the Lost Creek Reservoir's water supply and the Jack County Historical Museum's frontier heritage collection give the campground's day-trip range the specific north Texas agricultural and military history that the Cross Timbers country preserves. Reserve sites ahead for spring and fall outdoor recreation seasons.

Look at their site for a full list. We stayed in Cabin 3, "The Bunkhouse", which was a fun take on the whole safari par...Show more
