Terrace Pines Campground
Ossipee, New Hampshire
24 RV Sites, 7 Cabins, 1 House
Set on the shores of Big Dan Hole Pond and Little Dan Hole Pond in New Hampshire's Lakes Region, Terrace Pines Campground is a 600-acre waterfront destination with 190 sites and a recreational range that makes it stand out even in a state full of excellent lake campgrounds. Located near Center Ossipee at the gateway to the White Mountains, the campground positions guests for lake recreation, mountain hiking, and the broader Lakes Region experience in equal measure. The two ponds at the heart of the property are genuinely different from each other, and that contrast defines the experience.
Big Dan Hole Pond supports motorboating, water skiing, and sailing, and its waters are known for producing trophy-sized lake trout and salmon that keep serious anglers returning year after year. Little Dan Hole Pond is restricted to non-motorized craft, making it the preferred choice for quiet canoe and kayak excursions at a notably different pace. Rowboat, canoe, kayak, Corcl, and paddleboard rentals serve guests without their own watercraft. Sandy beaches front both ponds, and the swimming is excellent in the clear New Hampshire water. On land, a rec center, game room, disc golf course, indoor mini-golf, basketball and pickleball courts, and a camp store with laundry fill out a strong all-weather amenity package.
The natural setting of 600 acres gives Terrace Pines a landscape that extends well past the water's edge. Wooded campsites provide shade and privacy across a range of options, and mountain trails accessible from the property and surrounding region make the campground a genuine hiking destination for guests motivated to earn a view. Wildlife is abundant in the New Hampshire lake country—osprey, loons, deer, and the occasional black bear in the surrounding forest add texture to the experience. The light on the ponds in the early morning, with mist rising from the water and the mountains visible beyond the far shore, is the kind of thing that earns a campground its reputation.
The surrounding Lakes Region and White Mountains offer some of New Hampshire's most compelling day-trip options. Wolfeboro—the self-proclaimed oldest summer resort town in America—is nearby for shopping, dining, and the Lake Winnipesaukee shoreline. The White Mountains are within driving range for Franconia Notch State Park, Mount Washington, and the Kancamagus Highway, one of New England's most celebrated mountain drives. Castle in the Clouds, the hilltop estate with sweeping Lakes Region views, and the outlets and draws of North Conway round out the nearby options.
Terrace Pines operates seasonally and fills waterfront sites, cabin rentals, and peak summer weekends quickly once reservations open. The combination of two distinct lakes, a strong recreation program, and proximity to both the Lakes Region and White Mountains makes it a versatile destination for families, anglers, and outdoor enthusiasts. Plan ahead, reserve your lakeside site early, and let the two ponds of Center Ossipee set the rhythm for a New Hampshire summer stay worth repeating.
