Sleeping Buffalo Hot Springs & Resort
Saco, Montana
30 RV Sites, 5 Cabins, 4 Tent Sites, 3 Hotel Rooms
5.01 reviewsSleeping Buffalo Hot Springs & Resort in Saco, Montana, offers 30 RV sites, eight cabin and hotel-room accommodations, and four tent sites at a natural geothermal spring in the Milk River valley, with 20, 30, and 50-amp service and rigs accepted to 90 feet. An outdoor pool fed by the hot springs is the reason to come.
Thirty sites run from back-in to pull-thru and prime pull-thru configurations carrying full hookups with 20, 30, and 50-amp, sized to 90 feet, with fire pits and picnic tables. Eight cabins and hotel rooms serve guests without a rig, and four tent sites cover simpler camping. Restrooms and showers are on site.
The hot springs are the property's entire identity. Mineral-rich water, discovered by oil drillers in the early twentieth century, feeds an outdoor pool that serves both travelers crossing Montana's northern tier and the isolated agricultural communities of the Hi-Line. Swimming and horseshoes make up the rest of the on-site recreation — this is a remote resort in a landscape defined by the horizontal vastness of the northern Great Plains, and the amenity set reflects that honestly. Pets are welcome.
The resort takes its name from a buffalo-shaped sandstone formation that the springs' development displaced. The water rises from a deep artesian formation beneath the Phillips County prairie, a genuine geothermal anomaly this far out on the plains.
Saco sits on US-2 in Phillips County, hours from the nearest urban center. The resort serves both regional day-trippers from surrounding Hi-Line communities and travelers making the long cross-Montana traverse. Summer brings the heaviest road traffic, though the springs draw steady local use year-round.

The campground was just off the main road pretty much in the middle of nowhere. The campground had indoor swimming pools fed by a natural hot spring. It was fantastic! They are in the process of building outdoor pools as well. They are aiming to make it a destination resort. If we are ever back in the area ag...Show more
