Camp Mi Casa on the Route RV Park

Carthage, Missouri

51 RV Sites

Camp Mi Casa on the Route RV Park in Carthage, Missouri, sits directly on Historic Route 66 in one of the Mother Road's most authentic and well-preserved small-town settings, providing a welcoming retreat where the highway's traveling culture—the sense of discovery, community, and American road mythology—comes as naturally as the full hookup accommodations and outdoor amenities. Located just minutes from Carthage's Victorian commercial square, the park serves both Route 66 enthusiasts making dedicated pilgrimages along the old highway and travelers who stumble onto the city's charms en route to larger destinations. The park offers full hookup sites with water, electric, and sewer connections, accommodating a range of RV sizes in a layout that prioritizes the social character that makes Route 66 campgrounds distinctive—travelers comparing notes, sharing road stories, and planning the next day's drive together over evening fires. A swimming pool provides on-site recreation during warm Missouri months, and pickleball courts serve active guests who want structured outdoor activity beyond the road exploration that typically defines Route 66 travel. A beach area adds a water recreation dimension appropriate for the summer season along this section of the old highway. Carthage's landscape reflects the rolling Ozark Plateau transition country of southwestern Missouri, where the Springfield Plateau's limestone terrain meets the Ozarks' more rugged interior in a setting of agricultural fields, oak woodlands, and the Spring River drainage that lends a pastoral character to the surrounding countryside. The city's identity is shaped by two powerful historical forces: its position as a significant Civil War battlefield site and its role as a thriving Victorian-era commercial center whose prosperity produced the elaborate courthouse, churches, and mansions that still define its downtown character. Carthage's downtown square is anchored by the Jasper County Courthouse—a massive 1895 limestone Romanesque structure recognized as one of the finest courthouse buildings in Missouri—and surrounded by locally owned restaurants, shops, and the Boots Court Motel, a beautifully restored 1939 Route 66 motor court. The Battle of Carthage State Historic Site marks the first land battle of the Civil War fought entirely within Missouri, predating Bull Run, and the Precious Moments Chapel and museum draws visitors with its distinctive porcelain figurine tradition that has made Carthage an unexpected art destination. The adjacent Big Red Barn RV Park a short distance away offers additional accommodation options for travelers who want to explore Carthage with flexibility. Camp Mi Casa operates year-round, with spring and fall representing the most comfortable seasons for Route 66 road travel through the Ozarks and the Southwest sections that connect Missouri to the iconic New Mexico and Arizona stretches. Summer brings peak activity to the swimming pool and outdoor amenities, and the park's social atmosphere makes it a natural gathering point for Route 66 enthusiasts who plan their travel around the communities and roadside architecture rather than interstate highway efficiency. The park's name reflects its philosophy: every traveler is welcomed as a guest in the owners' home, with the warmth that distinguishes the best independently operated Route 66 properties from anonymous chain lodging.
