Vortex Spring Adventures
Ponce de Leon, Florida
75 RV Sites, 3 Cabins, 14 Motel Rooms, 1 House, 6 Apartments
Vortex Spring Adventures sits on 520 acres in Ponce de Leon, Florida, built around a first-magnitude freshwater spring that pumps roughly 28 million gallons of crystal-clear 68°F water into a natural swimming and diving basin every single day. The consistent temperature and visibility — often exceeding 30 feet — make Vortex Spring one of the premier scuba diving and cave diving destinations in the southeastern United States, while the spring itself offers snorkeling and swimming for visitors who want to be in the water without gear.
Accommodations range from RV sites to cabin rentals across the wooded property, giving divers and swimmers the option to stay on-site for multi-day visits rather than driving back and forth from a nearby hotel. Dive certifications and gear rentals are available on the premises, and the spring's cavern system extends deep enough to offer technical diving routes for advanced certified divers alongside the accessible open-water areas for recreational swimmers.
The surrounding Florida Panhandle spring country adds nearby options for guests who want variety in their water exploration. Ponce de Leon Springs State Park is about 10 minutes away with its own crystal spring pool and nature trails. Morrison Springs County Park, framed by old-growth cypress trees, is another short drive and offers excellent swimming alongside the diving access. Holmes Creek provides quiet kayak and canoe routes through cypress swamps for paddlers who want to trade the spring basin for a moving-water experience.
Florida Caverns State Park, about an hour north near Marianna, offers dry cave tours through limestone formations — a different kind of underground exploration for guests who want a change from the spring environment.
