Eagles Rest RV Resort

Valdez, Alaska

131 RV Sites, 18 Cabins, 21 Tent Sites, 4 Glamping Sites, 1 Cottage

At 139 East Pioneer Drive in Valdez, Alaska—near the Valdez harbor and downtown, in the community at the terminus of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and the head of Prince William Sound where the Chugach Mountains descend directly to tidewater in a wall of glaciers, waterfalls, and hanging valleys that makes Valdez one of the most visually overwhelming natural settings of any Alaskan town—Eagles Rest RV Park and Cabins positions guests for glaciers, fishing charters, wildlife cruises, and the Prince William Sound landscape that constitutes one of the most dramatic coastal environments in North America. Big-rig-friendly sites with wide roads, pull-through options, and full hookups, alongside cabins for guests traveling without RVs, provide the full-service infrastructure that Valdez's gateway role in the Sound demands. Spacious big-rig-friendly RV sites with full hookups, wide roads, and pull-through availability address the specific access needs that Valdez's concentration of large motorhomes and fifth wheels—brought by travelers who drove the full Alaska Highway or the Glenn Highway from Anchorage—create for campgrounds in a town with limited level ground. On-site restrooms, hot showers, laundry facilities, WiFi, cable television, and a dump station provide the full-service infrastructure that multi-week Alaska trips require. Fire rings, picnic tables, firewood, ice, horseshoes, and ladder ball provide the campground social infrastructure, and a nature trail system gives guests who want on-foot natural observation immediate walking access. Glamping tents provide an accommodation alternative for guests who want the Valdez experience in the most directly outdoor form without their own camping equipment. Fishing guides available through the resort connect guests to Valdez's extraordinary fishing resources without requiring guests to self-navigate the charter boat reservation process. Valdez's position at the head of Prince William Sound creates a natural setting of specific and overwhelming grandeur. The city is surrounded on three sides by the Chugach Mountains, and the waterfalls cascading from the hanging valleys above the town—some dropping hundreds of feet directly into the Sound—create the visual backdrop that makes even the most jaded Alaska traveler stop mid-sentence and look up. The Columbia Glacier, one of the largest tidewater glaciers in North America at 34 miles in length, is accessible by boat tour from Valdez Harbor and provides the calving glacier experience that visitors come to Prince William Sound specifically to witness. Keystone Canyon—the dramatic river gorge cut through the Chugach Mountains on the Richardson Highway just east of Valdez—provides the most immediately accessible hiking and waterfall viewing in the area, with Bridal Veil Falls and Horsetail Falls visible from the highway and the canyon walls rising above the Lowe River in a geological drama that the drive into Valdez builds toward for twenty miles. The Alyeska Pipeline Terminal at Valdez—the southern terminus of the 800-mile Trans-Alaska Pipeline—offers guided tours that give visitors the infrastructure context for North Slope oil production. Fishing charter operators in Valdez Harbor specialize in silver salmon, halibut, and rockfish in the richly productive waters of the Sound. Eagles Rest RV Park and Cabins is open through the primary Alaska travel season from May through September, with the peak demand period coinciding with the July and August salmon runs. Reserve well in advance for the summer high season—Valdez draws Alaska travelers specifically for the Sound experience, and good sites and cabin availability disappear early. Book your pull-through, arrange the glacier cruise, and let Prince William Sound earn its place as one of Alaska's most accessible and most spectacular coastal environments.
